A letter from Habyt’s CEO, Luca Bovone

Dear Community,

I started Habyt in 2017 with the goal of bringing housing into the 21st century — why was it so easy to grab an Uber but so damn hard to rent a room or apartment?

Starting from a 7 bedroom apartment in Berlin, 6 years later we find ourselves with 30.000 units across more than 50 cities in 3 continents. While clear that the team has achieved something important, scale, we started feeling that our old brand and positioning was a bit too tight for us having grown that much. The language we used, the look and feel we had, it was built a few years ago when our scope was much smaller.

For this reason, we have decided to engage DesignStudio, the agency behind brands such as Airbnb and Deliveroo, to rethink what Habyt is.

After a few months of work, I am so excited to welcome you to the new Habyt. Together with the DesignStudio, we analyzed what truly our customers want and need. And the result was clear: Habyt is about solving a problem, the problem of access to housing. It’s about bringing our customers from 0 to 1, no home to home. It’s about a new graduate from Asia, coming to Berlin for their first job as a software engineers and facing massive barriers like needing a bank account, credit score and prejudice. Our goal is to break those barriers and enable access to housing.

Around this mantra we envisioned our new purpose: your next move, unlocked. This sentence really encapsulates everything that Habyt is about your next move (personal, future looking, movement) and unlocked (enablement). Together with this the team envisioned a series of shapes inspired by floor plans that, together with a very utilitarian sets of colors, can tell countless of stories about people moving and living into Habyt homes.

Our new logo, centered around the H of Habyt is more friendly and welcoming with round shapes. The H is built around the two opened doors, reminding of the architectural shapes as well as our new purpose.

With this new brand we are now aligned to enable access to housing anywhere and for anyone. We can leave behind being solely a co-living company and embrace flexible living: stay with Habyt for a few days or a few months, stay with us in a shared apartment or in your own penthouse apartment, we got it all. All will be delivered around our new commitments: radical transparency, flexibility, and breaking barriers.

A special “Thank you” to all of you who have collaborated with us, and helped answer survey questions as well as took part in the interviews we hosted! We've taken all these perspectives into account and radically transformed them into a unique viewpoint, showcased in our state-of-the-art brand elements. We've laid the groundwork to create a distinct connection with clients of all ages and varying needs, positioning ourselves as the preferred brand for their living requirements.
